- December 20, 2022, the Walton County community celebrated Bobby Beasley, 20-year service as Supervisor of Elections.
- The 2002 election computer card “chads” created outcomes controversy; Congress passed the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) allocating $4 Billion to the states to upgrade their voting equipment.
- Mr. Beasley inherited the position in 2003 because of the untimely passing of his wife, Melissa, and by the appointment to complete her term by Governor John Ellis “Jeb” Bush.
- Mr. Beasley was instrumental in the evaluation of the “voting equipment” for Florida and was impressed with the “appearance of closed system software” produced by Election Systems and Software (Omaha) and currently used in Walton County elections.
On December 20, 2022, The Walton County community celebrated the impressive 20 years of stewardship by Bobby Beasley as Supervisor of Elections. Government officials of all ranks and local citizens joined in his celebration.
Bobby inherited the position in 2003 because of the untimely passing of his wife, Melissa, and by the appointment to complete her term by Governor John Ellis “Jeb” Bush. Thereafter successfully re-elected until his planned retirement, 2022. Mr. Beasley is a certified Supervisor of Elections, a Master Florida Certified Elections Professional (MFCEP), and has served on the board of directors of the Florida Supervisors of Elections (FSE) as well as other committees in the organization.
Because of the 2002 election where the chads affected the outcome of the Presidential election victory to George W. Bush, Congress passed the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) allocating $4 Billion to the states to upgrade their voting equipment. Mr. Beasley was instrumental in the evaluation of the electronic voting equipment for Florida and was impressed with the “appearance of closed system software” manufactured by Election Systems and Software (ESS, Omaha) and currently used in Walton County elections.
Electing a new role: Sports Fisherman. Bobby’s focus is to fish and enjoy a slower daily pace.
