Meet Paul, the neighbors know him as a kind, honest and very much trusted local general contractor, home inspector and expert woodworker.
He is a legend to the neighbor children for his adventuresome and encouraging spirit as well as the bike path he cleared for them.
Paul is also known for leading efforts during inclement weather in his modest treed neighborhood.
He is skillful in his craft and adept in handling emergency situations with deftness, confidence, and ease. Approachable and inviting, his spirit is contagious, and it compels others to assess the situation, step up and take action.
If a tree falls, Paul is often first on the scene, quick to grab his chainsaw and remove a tree that is blocking the roadway or that has fallen on a neighbor’s roof. During the rainy season, he has led efforts to divert water from areas prone to flooding. He leads by example and others feel encouraged to pitch in.
An Army vet, Paul is no stranger to hard work, self-sufficiency, and preparedness. He’s a friendly guy with a helpful manner and can-do attitude connects with neighbors young and old. Neighbor children know him by name, and he welcomes a chat as they pass by.
Many guests at the neighborhood picnic were unaware that they were welcoming Paul back from his second tour participating in humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. He has help to evacuate over 200 people dodging artillery fire in dangerous front line areas in the Donbas region.
Those who know him appreciate his sense of quiet urgency to get the job done paired with his kind demeanor and sense of humor. He is now using his sense of urgency and respect for life to escort people in the devastated and war-torn Ukraine to safety.
Following are some photos that illustrate the humanitarian efforts of the Global Augmentation Group.
Donations to the non-profit allow for purchases such as a Sprinter van. Modifications have been made to assure room for more passengers for more efficient extractions of refugees. Seats were removed from the new van to accommodate 11 souls, 2 stretchers, 1 driver, 1 copilot and 1 navigator.
