You have half a day, and, on a whim, you’re invited to Miami! It’s a two-hour drive and you’re excited for the adventure! Now what? Where to go? What to do?? The city is so HUGE! So many options and such little time. On your marks, get set, GO!
I wouldn’t know where to start if it wasn’t for a friend that directed me to a neighborhood full of murals, cafes and divine coffee to start the day. So now I pass this information to you!
To start the day, we head over to the artistic district of Wynwood!! It’s a chilly and cloudy Florida morning. At 65 degrees, the day invites a coffee shop tour!
I scour the map in the Wynwood district and see a cafe called Panther Coffee. I check out a few pictures, read a few reviews, and decide this is the place! There’s a big patio outside with several native Florida shade trees and string lights adorning the area. As we walk inside, we are greeted with the aromas of strong bold coffee. The decor is in wood, giving a sense of rustic-ness. The cafe is dimly lit with amber colored globes. The vibe is perfect! There’s a pretty good size line, which I take as a good sign. I don’t mind waiting for the perfect cup!
We get our coffees togo and start our street tour. As you look up, across, and side to side there is rich mural art in every corner! And I mean EVERY corner of this local cityscape! The colors are magnificent! The art is diverse with so much talent. I wonder how one can achieve such a picture on a grand scale?? There is art reflecting in windows casting yet another picture to admire. I see stairs and a rail and wonder, is that the art? Or are those real stairs and railing? A mystery.
We turn one more corner and approach Zak the Baker. A recommended bakery and coffee shop. We don’t have time today as the line is 10 times longer than Panther Coffee. Another day we will feast our bellies on Zak’s delights! By this time my 6-ounce espresso sensation has me buzzing!
Making our way back to the car we decided to head to All Day Cafe just over a mile down the road in the Park West district. This is a cute cafe with vintage decor. I love the feeling of charm! We get the two-egg breakfast (how you like them) served with two sides. Oh, my goodness!! Served scrambled and soft, breakfast is divine! Another coffee, this time decaf since my system is already running on turbocharge, and fresh squeezed orange juice! We have hit the jackpot yet again! I can’t imagine a more scrumptious meal to start the day! And to top it off for dessert, a Florida Sunshine Pavlova!! The day is now complete after this succulent meringue tart!
